This demonstration was held to show solidarity with the people of Gaza. During the months preceding the demonstration, the actions of the Israeli army - cynically named in the summer months “Operation Summer Rain” and in the fall months the title “Operation Autumn Clouds” - devastated the Palestinian population in Gaza. Since June 1, 2006, over 300 Palestinian civilians, including 89 children and 25 women, have been killed by the Israeli military. Since this demonstration the numbers have climbed.
This demonstration demanded an immediate end to Canadian government support for Israel's apartheid policies in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. A demonstration to let the people of Gaza know - they don’t stand alone!
