Originally, I had written a few paragraphs here explaining my connection to the Jewish community. I used those paragraphs to assure myself, more than anyone else, that an anti-Israeli stand did not mean I was anti-Semitic.
It's taken a number of months, lots of reading, learning and conversations with both Jews and non-Jews to reach the conclusion that Israeli aggression in the middle east has nothing to do with being Jewish. Simply put, opposing Israeli agression like that of the US, and now Canada, is about right and wrong.
My main opposition is to the carnage that I view in the media each day. I am particularly disturbed by the images of the children and civilians trapped in the middle of something that they have no control over. I've also come to the conclusion that western culture includes a media that limits how much information it provides the public. As a result, the public is never totally aware unless they seek out more information. Hopefully, I can share some of that information by recording some of my experiences as I seek out answers for myself as I try to make sense from the craziness that is today's world.
