The Temp or the Professional

Thursday started like any other Thursday in recent memory. I got up, moved my feet - connected to my legs -off the bed and onto the floor. Once the bottoms of my feet were firmly grasping the floor, I lifted them back onto the bed, rolled over on my side (for this is the way I like to sleep), pulled the blanket over my head - to block out the sunlight shooting through the window - and went back to sleep.

I can not remember how long I slept other than to say, when I awoke, I moved my feet - still connected to my legs - off the bed and onto the floor. Once the bottoms of my feet were firmly grasping the floor, I pulled my bum off the bed and stood upright. Then grabbing my right leg with both hands embracing the knee area, I lifted my right foot off the ground and moved it ahead of my left leg. I then repeated this process with my left leg until it moved in front of my right leg. Painstakingly, I managed to coax the rest of my body to follow until I stood at the bedroom door looking down the hallway - at which point I opened my eyes and realized, with great delight, that another day was upon me.

I had a shower, got dressed and put the coffee on. While the coffee brewed, I went out to the store and bought a Star. When I returned home, it now being 9:10 a.m., I called the agency to see if there was any work. Around 10:00 a.m. they called back to confirm a work order for next weekend. While Brenda, the consultant, was giving me the details, she was interrupted by another call, "I have a client on the other line, can I call you back in ten minutes?"

"Sure." I answered and hung up.

A few minutes later she called back and gave me the rest of the details for the upcoming job and then asked, "How would you feel about working for $10.00 an hour?"

"Choke. " I said. "Sure, what is it you have in mind." I imagined renting her my body - rippling with muscles -and if there was a lot of foreplay, and I mean a lot, I could make a killing.

"Have you ever done any data entry?"

"Data entry? Why Data Entry is my second name."
